This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you visit our website (including sunsys.ca, dorkiz.in, and associated subdomains) or engage our computer, laptop, and printer repair services in Calgary, Alberta.

Our privacy practices comply with the Canadian federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the Alberta provincial Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

1. Information We Collect

We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to provide quality technical diagnostics, repairs, customer support, and appointment scheduling. This includes:

  • Contact Information: Your first and last name, email address, and telephone number.
  • Service & Diagnostic Details: Device brand, model, serial number, operating system version, description of computer/printer symptoms or hardware faults, and repair history.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information solely for legitimate commercial purposes in delivering our repair services, including:

  • Scheduling repair appointments and managing drop-off or shop service logistics.
  • Diagnosing hardware/software issues and communicating repair estimates and diagnostic findings.
  • Transmitting transactional service confirmations, completion notices, and invoices.
  • Maintaining warranty records for replaced components and service guarantees.
  • Fulfilling legal, tax, and accounting requirements under Alberta and Canadian law.

We do not sell, rent, trade, or monetize your personal information to third parties or marketing brokers under any circumstances.

3. Third-Party Service Providers & Email Infrastructure (Resend)

To operate our online appointment scheduling and maintain fast, reliable communication, we partner with trusted third-party technology providers who act strictly as data processors on our behalf.

Transactional Email Delivery — Resend

We utilize Resend (operated by Resend, Inc.) as our specialized cloud communications platform for dispatching transactional email notifications, appointment confirmations, and service inquiries.

  • Full GDPR & Privacy Compliance: Resend is fully compliant with the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and maintains adherence to stringent global data protection standards, including standard contractual clauses (SCCs) for cross-border data protection.
  • Enterprise Security (SOC 2): Resend holds rigorous SOC 2 Type II certification, enforcing continuous security auditing, strict access controls, and zero unauthorized data access.
  • End-to-End Encryption: All communications transmitted through Resend are encrypted in transit using industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.2 / TLS 1.3) and encrypted at rest with AES-256 bit encryption.
  • Strict Data Processing Role: Resend functions solely as a technical data processor. Resend does not own, share, sell, or use customer information for any purpose other than relaying requested messages.

Our web servers and hosting infrastructure also utilize industry-standard security firewalls and encryption protocols to protect your submitted data against interception or unauthorized tampering.

4. Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) Compliance

We strictly observe Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). We do not send unsolicited commercial electronic messages (CEMs). Any electronic communication sent to your email or telephone is directly related to your explicit request (e.g., an appointment confirmation, repair quote, or pickup readiness notification). We will never enroll you in recurring promotional newsletters without your express opt-in consent.

5. Device Data & Privacy During Hardware Repairs

When servicing your laptop, desktop, computer, or storage device:

  • Our certified technicians only access files, operating system configurations, or software modules strictly necessary to diagnose, repair, or verify functionality.
  • We do not copy, browse, transfer, or disclose any personal photographs, private documents, financial files, or personal materials stored on your storage drives.
  • Where diagnostic testing requires temporary drive cloning or backup creation, all temporary diagnostic images are permanently erased following successful customer handover and verification.

6. Data Retention & Storage

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including warranty servicing, dispute resolution, and compliance with statutory Canadian taxation and accounting records. Once records are no longer required, they are securely destroyed, de-identified, or permanently deleted.

  • Right of Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we maintain concerning you.
